The LRF held its first Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Programme JESIP training session of 2026 this week with more than 40 emergency planning specialists from a wide range of organisations attending.

JESIP training offers numerous advantages that contribute to a more effective and efficient multi-agency emergency response system.

Operational, tactical and strategic commanders from blue light services including police, fire and ambulance attended the always popular session with colleagues from organisations including the Environment Agency, Network Rail and local councils to strengthen relationships.

The session focused on the rules of JESIP and the importance of organisations working together before, during and after incidents.

It also featured the vital of work of resilience forums in dealing with its objectives of providing humanitarian assistance at times of need, and the critical area of warning and informing the public.

There was also a presentation from the British Red Cross about the services offered by voluntary organisations in times of emergencies across Lancashire.

Those present were reminded how JESIP models and the principles for joint working should be used during all phases of an incident to achieve the overarching aim of ‘working together, saving lives, reducing harm.’

Feedback at the end of the day was extremely positive with thanks going to all the members of the LRF who lead the sessions for the benefit of all partners across the county.
