Flood alerts are in place across parts of Lancashire today, March 25th, following heavy rainfall overnight.

The Environment Agency has issued warnings for areas along the Upper and Lower River Wyre after a night of heavy rain.

The Environment Agency said "flooding is possible and warned residents to 'be prepared'.

A spokesperson said: "River levels remain high throughout this morning.

"We will continue to monitor the situation."

The Upper Wyre alert covers the Rivers Wyre, Calder, and Brock, as well as other nearby watercourses.

Affected locations include Abbeystead, Catterall, Scorton, Garstang, Bilsborrow, Ainspool, and Churchtown.

A separate alert is in place for the Lower Wyre, covering the River Cocker and Pilling Water.

At-risk areas include Catterall, Fleetwood, St Michaels, Great Eccleston, and Preesall.

Residents are being urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect property and belongings.
