Is your business cyber crime aware?

Lancashire businesses are being invited to take part in a free Cyber Attack Simulation session, funded by Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw and delivered by the University of Lancashire.

According to the Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2025, published by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, 43% of businesses experienced a cyber breach or attack within a twelve‑month period.

The programme gives business owners, directors and senior managers from across Lancashire the chance to step into a realistic cyber attack scenario, helping them build the confidence and skills needed to respond effectively before a real incident happens.

This immersive, scenario‑based exercise places you at the centre of a realistic cyber incident, helping you practise critical decision‑making under pressure - including leadership, communication, risk management and business continuity. No technical or IT background is required.

These sessions are delivered by the University of Lancashire and fully funded by Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner using proceeds of crime, supporting stronger cyber resilience across Lancashire’s business community.

Commissioner Clive Grunshaw said: “Lancashire’s businesses are vital to our communities and our economy, and cyber crime can have serious consequences for businesses of all sizes.

“By investing proceeds of crime into preventative initiatives like this, we are helping businesses better understand the risks they face, prepare for the decisions they may need to make, and reduce the likelihood of becoming victims. Working in partnership with the University of Lancashire and regional cyber resilience organisations allows us to support businesses in a practical, accessible way and strengthen confidence across the county.

Following the simulation, aftercare support will be available from the North West Cyber Resilience Centre and the University, helping you understand and address any risks or gaps identified during the exercise.

Each session will last up to 4 hours and can accommodate 20 participants and includes complimentary refreshments.
