Major incident exercise tests emergency plans
Critical site scenario helps provide vital learning for responders
Emergency responders have been putting their plans to the test this week at a special training exercise.
One of the major roles of Lancashire Resilience Forum members is to plan for potential emergencies to ensure they can deliver an effective multi-agency response when major incidents happen.
The most recent exercise saw members of the emergency services come together to respond to a potentially lethal fire and test their emergency plans.
Rachel Hutchinson, Senior Emergency Planning Officer from Lancashire County Council, oversaw the exercise.
She said: “All partners worked together over a number of months to create and develop the exercise and to ensure their emergency plans could be tested both in theory and in practice.
“The team who put the exercise together looked for good practice to be shared while highlighting areas for improvement to ensure the plans are up to date and are as robust as they possibly can be.
“Exercises like this one are really important because they provide a great opportunity to test the plans and provide learning for those who would respond to any emergencies.’’
