Met Office issues storm warning
Storm Floris will bring "unseasonably strong and potentially disruptive winds''
Storm Floris will bring "unseasonably strong and potentially disruptive winds" to the North of England on Monday, the Met Office has said.
A yellow weather warning will come into force at 6am on Monday (August 4th) and remain in place until 6am on Tuesday.
Matthew Lehnert is a Met Office Chief Meteorologist.
He said: “Across the warning area, many inland areas are likely to see gusts of 40-50mph, with 60-70mph more likely at higher elevations and around exposed coasts in Scotland. There is a small chance that some locations here could even record gusts of 85mph.”
The Met Office has advised flying debris and large waves could cause potential injuries.
They also advised people to secure loose items such as garden furniture, trampolines, tents and sheds and check details before travelling.
