An amber cold health alert has been issued for the whole of the north west with the warning in place until November 22, at 8am.
An amber alert is issued when the weather is likely to cause significant impacts across health and social care service.
According to BBC Weather, light snow showers and sleet have been predicted for parts of the country.
Snow is forecast in Hyndburn, Pendle, Burnley and Blackburn on Thursday, November 20. Light snow showers have also been forecast on Wednesday in Rossendale. Temperatures are also set to plummet this week, with the Met Office predicting lows of -4°C in Blackburn, and other parts of East Lancashire, on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Weather health alerting system is provided by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) in partnership with the Met Office. It's intended to provide early warning to the health and social care sector, the responder community, the voluntary and community sector and government departments when adverse temperatures are likely to impact on the health and wellbeing of the population.
