Protecting the county from wildfires
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service advice helps reduce the risk
As part of Lancashire Resilience Forum's support of the #30 Days30WaysUK campaign, we're sharing advice from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service to help reduce the risk of wildfires.
Wildfires can start easily and spread incredibly quickly—but many are preventable.
Grass fires, moorland fires and countryside fires can put homes, wildlife, communities and emergency responders at risk.
Wildfires can happen at any time of year, but warm, dry conditions can allow them to spread quickly, putting people, wildlife, homes and our countryside at risk.
There are simple steps we can all take to help:
Around your home
✓ Clear leaves and debris from gutters.
✓ Keep flammable materials, such as log piles and compost heaps, away from buildings.
When enjoying the outdoors
✓ Leave disposable BBQs at home and pack a picnic instead.
✓ Dispose of cigarettes safely and never throw them from car windows.
✓ Take all litter home with you.
It only takes one spark.
Together, we can help protect Lancashire's communities, countryside and wildlife.
