The Lancashire Resilience Forum (LRF) featured on BBC Radio Lancashire this week as part of the station’s focus on the 10 year anniversary of Storm Desmond which impacted much of Lancashire from 5th December 2015.

Desmond brought record rainfall - over 340mm rainfall at Honister Pass in 24 hours - and homes, businesses and farms were impacted, with many bridges and roads damaged due to the power of the flood water.

The River Lune recorded the highest river flow on record of an English river at 1,750m3 per second at Caton.

More than 5,200 homes were flooded, with thousands more left without power, clean water, and essential services.

The LRF’s business manager, Hannah Sutton, was interviewed by presenter Nishma Hindocha and spoke about the work of the Forum and the importance of people being “prepared and not scared’’ for emergencies such as flooding and power outages in the future and stressing how much information is available on this website to help make those preparations.

The full interview can be heard until the end of December here: Nishma Hindocha on BBC Radio Lancashire - 04/12/2025 - BBC Sounds and is 2.25 hours into the show.
